Custom Instructions are always-on guidance that you or your team write once for a Workspace. Replit uses them across that Workspace’s Projects and sessions, so you do not need to repeat conventions in every Conversation. Use Custom Instructions for a small set of guidelines that are always true, such as approved libraries, security requirements, or data-handling policies. Keep them short and specific so they leave room for the work at hand.

Choose the right kind of guidance

  • Use Custom Instructions for workspace-wide guidance that should always apply.
  • Use Skills for reusable approaches and supporting material that are relevant only to particular tasks.
  • Use Memories for useful context Replit retains from past work.
